Dewey Welch ran a Blacksmith Shop on his family's farm. He did the blacksmithing for the community. His original Blacksmith shop burned. He then converted the above horse barn into his Blacksmith Shop. Several of the Blacksmith tools came from this building.

Most of the antique farm equipment here in the Village came from the Mattie Welch farm.
